Have you ever attended a live marketing event? The kind where people sell to you from the stage?

If you haven’t, I strongly suggest you do because you will learn more from seeing their techniques put into action than any amount of blog posts or even courses.

I was at one such event yesterday along with a couple of friends who had their eyes opened as I named and explained each marketing technique for them.

Even so, they still ended up paying way over the odds for a bunch of flashcards they really didn’t need but I had gone to the loo at that point so they only have themselves to blame.

I thought it would be helpful for you to have some of those same techniques named and explained because you can use them in your own business…

But first let’s get an overview of all kinds of marketing techniques or strategies – 50 of them in fact:

Moving on to the specifics, two techniques that were employed to great effect yesterday were authority and reciprocity.

As far as authority was concerned, the speaker established and reinforced that by first stating her credentials as a trained doctor (nothing to do with the topic which was finance but gained instant respect) and then constantly reminded the audience of that.

She also casually mentioned how she had just come back from Necker Island where she hung out with Richard Branson et al, advising some of the most influential people in the world on their attitudes to money. Trust me, it worked.

As for reciprocity, that was established with a low ticket price from which the profits went to charity. She then delivered great value which meant almost everyone in the audience felt obliged to buy at least that pack of overpriced cards and many more her program at a cool £1595 (the special deal, of course).

Everyone except me and a couple of savvy others who could see what was going on. But that’s OK because her program sounded good – if that’s what you were after. And it worked brilliantly.
