I have some more thoughts for you today, and I’m multitasking because I’m also cooking supper here…
So I decided to talk to you about things that are snackable.
It’s not just because I’m in my kitchen. It’s because I’ve noticed, as many other marketers have, that there is a big trend towards micro content.
It’s not just marketers – it’s authors, filmmakers. TV producers…anyone who produces content in any form for people to consume, and that includes you.
Now snackable has obviously been around for a while because, as you’ve probably also noticed, attention spans are getting shorter and shorter.
Yes, it has to do with screens. It’s also to do with the frenetic pace of life and the way that things are served up to us we become used to consuming content in this way.
So what does that mean for you?
It means that you need to think in terms of micro…so if you’re going to create a video, then make sure someone can consume that within a few moments because to be honest, that’s probably all they’re going to give you and all they’ve got.
If you write a blog post, again, make sure that they can snack at it. It doesn’t have to be a micro short blog post, but I suggest you chunk it so they can consume part one, part two, part three, and so on rather than one huge chunk.
Again with courses, this is a big trend that I’ve noticed and something that I’m actually creating a course on at the moment because I think it’s hugely important that you learn this.
People don’t want massive courses that are fluffed out with huge amounts of worksheets and videos and transcripts and stuff that is just terrifying to consume…
So they never do.
Which means you need to think about creating stuff that people can snack upon, but that snack has to be really tasty as all the best snacks are.
Really refine down what you’re creating to give great stuff but keep it succinct, keep it tasty and cut out all the fat and fluff.
Make sure that you, your audience, your customers – everyone – can consume whatever it is within a very short period of time, and they’ll love you for it.
Okay I’m going back to creating the supper now and feeding my cat. I’ll be back with more good stuff tomorrow.
By the way, if you want to know my top productivity tip this week it’sthis brilliant voice to text app I use that’s free for 600 minutes a month. I just chat into my phone and it transcribes for me (and you!) https://otter.ai
