Nineteen years…that’s how long I’ve been involved in marketing, a lot of it online. And in that time I think I can say I’ve seen and done it all. Or at least the legitimate stuff.
You learn a lot when you’ve been around this particular block as many times as I have and the most important thing I’d like to pass on to you is this: it’s not that hard.
Sure, you need to acquire some technical skills but that gets easier and easier every year and you can always get someone else to do it for you.
You also need an idea of what you’re doing. Now that’s a little harder. But the really tough thing? The thing most people can’t do so they give up and give in?
That tough thing is having a plan and then following it each and every day.
Yup, consistency and strategy trump all those shiny things out there and all the one-click solutions that are anything but. I know. Not sexy at all, is it? But it’s the only thing that works which, in my eyes, makes it very sexy indeed.
That’s because through it working you also get to see your bank balance growing and to start to believe that, hey, you really can make this online thing work and possibly that offline thing too.
And make sure you’re doing the right things by following that strategy I mentioned earlier, one that chimes with your beliefs and passions, and suddenly it’s fun to see how fast you can make things grow. Including doubling your sales which is not actually that hard at all if you do all of the above.
Funnily enough, this is also what I tell my clients, the ones I work with on a one to one basis. First I ask them a lot of questions about themselves and what they want and then, together, we work out how to make that happen.
The thing is, it’s pretty hard to get a one to one with me unless you’re already a client of mine and I have always wanted to replicate that experience for everyone who wants it so they can put it into action for themselves while I help them through every step.
